OUTREACH AND COMMUNITY
As part of the Goods Shed’s commitment to the people of Tetbury we are keen to work with local community groups such as schools, clubs and other bodies.
To this end we have established good relations with our local schools, running competitions and events to enhance their education programmes.
We run the very successful one day festival ‘Off The Rails’ for the community where we provide a wide range of music, events, food and drink for all the family over the course of a day on the last Sunday of the summer holidays.
We also hold weekly afternoon concerts on a Wednesday featuring a range of different local semi-professional and amateur groups – including pianists, choirs and groups.
We host performances for children at accessible pricing, and try to provide for free or discounted places whenever we get funding to do so. We mostly work with The Last Baguette, who provide our once a month ‘Playtime’ sessions, and Music for Miniatures, who bring trained classical musicians to perform in a relaxed setting.
Tetbury Lions Men’s Sheds project has moved in nearby to the Goods Shed site meaning we canshare facilities and run occasional joint events.
We are also running a very successful series of Gardeners’ Questions using local experts and we hope to run a Wool Fair next October to highlight Tetbury’s past as a wool town and offer expertise on weaving, spinning and knitting!
We would also love your input and if you would like to join us as volunteers, we would be very happy to see you – The Shed cannot function without our valiant band of helpers!
