Julian Bliss is recognized as one of the world’s finest clarinettists, celebrated for his versatility as a concerto soloist, chamber musician, recitalist, jazz artist, and educator.

He formed the original Julian Bliss Septet in 2010, which quickly captivated audiences across the globe with its inspiring, jazz-fuelled shows.

The group now frequently perform as a quintet, offering the same dazzling virtuosity, extraordinary musicianship, and signature energy. They have played at some of the most prestigious venues and festivals around the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Bermuda Jazz Festival and venues across the United States.

Early shows were inspired by the great Benny Goodman whose iconic music captivated Julian as a young musician. Taking a fresh, modern approach to Goodman’s work, their first album (‘The King of Swing’) and live performances gained widespread critical and popular acclaim, and these programmes remain in great demand today.

Expanding their repertoire and working with new genres of music, the group used their mastery of Western classical, swing and jazz to complement the rich heritage of Latin and wider American traditions.

George Gershwin was a musician who bridged the worlds of jazz and classical music. Enamoured with both genres and convinced that each could bring something to the table, he mastered the art of combining jazz and classical to create his famous signature sound.

In this programme The Julian Bliss Quintet presents their unique take on some of Gershwin’s most famous compositions with original arrangements and adaptations.

Advance tickets cost £24. On the door on the night, they will cost £28.
