Jive and Lindy Hop Classes

Just Jive and Lindy Hop are a fun and friendly dance company based in Gloucestershire and Wiltshire, with over 25 years of dancing experience between us. Always fun, with lots of humour, we ensure you have a great time with us.

We have taught hundreds (maybe thousands) of people with ‘two left feet’ – so we promise you will be in safe hands with us.

We run two classes each week at Tetbury Goods Shed — for beginners and intermediates — on Tuesday evenings at 7pm and 8pm.

Current term runs until 16 December 2025. £7 per class. Pay on door by cash or card.

There are many modern Jive styles: ours is an amalgamation of footwork-based moves with a smooth action. Unlike more modern and ballroom jives (no wiggling), our style is influenced by rock ‘n’ roll and Lindy Hop. It also includes jazz steps and tricks.

This class is aimed at complete novices. We break the steps down bit by bit in a fun, humorous and relaxed atmosphere. By the end of the term you will be dancing with confidence.

We dance to music from the 1920s onwards, including rock ‘n’ roll and today’s current tunes. Some of our favourite tracks include: Johnny be Good, Shakin’ Mother for You and Dance with me Tonight performed by Olly Murs

Have fun with us and learn a new skill along the way. Get fit and increase your social life. Wear comfy clothes and smooth soled flat shoes.

No partner required. as we will rotate the class. Partners can stay together if they wish.

Current term runs until 16 December 2025. £7 per class. Pay on door by cash or card.

The Lindy Hop is an fun partner dance that is said to have been invented in The Savoy Ballroom, Harlem, New York, in the 1920s and 1930s. It’s danced to swing music from Count Basie, Ella Fitzgerald, Artie Shaw and Duke Ellington to name a few!

The daddy of all Swing dances, it was brought to Britain in the early 1940s by the American GIs. It’s fun, its cool and you get fit at the same time.

Our Intermediate classes are progressive each week, and are for dancers who already have some experience in dancing Lindy Hop. An understanding of 6 and 8 count rhythms and the ability to triple-step and lead/follow Lindy turns, swing outs and circles is essential. Some fun footwork variations and Charleston steps will improve your musicality to elevate your dancing to another level.

Wear smooth-soled flat shoes and comfy clothes. No partner required as we will rotate the class, or you can stay with your partner if you prefer. With Jim & Lin
