Antipholus is searching for his long lost identical twin brother, Antipholus. His servant, Dromio, is searching for his long lost identical twin brother – yes – Dromio.

Chaos ensues when Antipholus and Dromio arrive in Ephesus and the residents mistake them for their own local, identically-named twins.

Throughout the day, the confusion escalates into scenes of apparent madness, wrongful beatings, a stolen gold chain, and accusations of demonic possession. The mayhem peaks when the twins (the ones in the first paragraph) seek refuge in a local priory.

The play concludes with a joyous, chaotic family reunion, as the Abbess (revealed to be the long-lost mother) resolves the confusion, reuniting the twins, the servants, and their parents. The play is celebrated for its fast-paced, slapstick humor, and its exploration of “sure uncertainty

One of William Shakespeare’s earliest plays, Comedy of Errors is also his shortest and one of his most farcical comedies.

Please note: this is an outside performance so please do bring your own rugs and cushions to sit on. If the weather is bad, then we will move the performance into the Main Hall.

The Festival Players Theatre Company is now well established as a professional company delivering the best in open-air Shakespeare. It continues to grow in reputation internationally and now tours as an all-male rep company staging two shows featuring the same team of performers.

Advance Tickets: Adult £18. Under 18 years £12. On the door on the day (if still available): £20 and £13 respectively.
