Free admission. Open Wednesday to Sunday, 10am-4pm, from 29 October until 14 December.
Whistleblowers is a suite of new work conceived specifically for the Goods Shed, depicting UK whistleblowers such as David Kelly (main event image) – individuals who exposed corporate malpractice, systemic failures, fraud or abuse of power.
What is the nature of moral courage? What does it take to speak out?
As is customary with Knell’s paintings, they resist giving up their subject immediately but invite sustained gaze. Are we observing
the strain of courage, or the mask of ambivalence?
Exhibition opening: Friday 31 October. 6pm.
Join us for the official opening of Whistleblowers, including a Q&A with Alex Knell.

About the artist

Alex Knell (b.1978) is a multimedia artist who studied at Goldsmiths and the Royal Academy of Art. His work is typically concerned with historical moments of hope, doubt, possibility and potential.
Working in different media, including oil paint, text, installation and sound, his work seeks to open a dialogue with the viewer plunging them into paradoxical visual, aural or conceptual experiences. Half here, half not, his apparitional oil paintings slip from the canvas, often evoking historical narratives that seep into the present.
Knell has exhibited in London, New York and across Europe.
The exhibition opening times are 10-4pm Wednesdays through Sundays. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays and occasionally for other events in the main hall: we recommend you call first if travelling a distance to avoid disappointment.
