Made by award winning filmmaker Hugh Pearson

Dr Diane Gendron has dedicated her life to studying blue whales in Mexico’s Gulf of California, revealing the secret lives of these mysterious giants like never before.

Diane is the Jane Goodall of whales, yet her story has yet to be told — until now.

This intimate film—told entirely in Diane’s own words—follows her groundbreaking work, personal journey, and unwavering commitment to protecting her blue whale family.

Set in one of the world’s richest seas, and featuring stunning footage of dolphins, sea lions, and killer whales, this is a powerful portrait of passion, sacrifice, and the fight to save the largest animal on Earth.

The filmmaker, Tetbury-based Hugh Pearson, is an Emmy and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker who specialises in making wildlife films at sea.

Hugh produced and directed Coastal Seas and High Seas episodes on the landmark Netflix series Our Planet, which has won multiple prestigious awards including the 2019 Emmy for “Outstanding Documentary/Nonfiction Series”.
