This is an absolute must-see concert for any aspiring young musicians.
The Gloucestershire Youth String Orchestra (GYSO) is made up of a very talented group of youngsters drawn from across the Gloucestershire schools. It relaunched in 2018 as a creative outlet for the string section of Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra (GYO) and then Gloucestershire Intermediate String Ensemble to tackle larger string repertoire.
GYSO was chosen to perform at Birmingham Town Hall as part of Music for Youth’s National Festival. More recently notable performances include appearing at The Music for Youth Proms 2025 which took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall over two nights on 10 and 11 November 2025
This national award-winning string orchestra allows young string players (grade 5 +) the opportunity to develop their ensemble skills and to tackle challenging repertoire. Sessions are presented and delivered in a fun and inclusive manner.
This year, GYSO also will perform at the Royal Albert Hall, Pittville Pump Rooms, Cheltenham Town Hall, St Mary’s Church Painswick and at Tewkesbury Abbey. It will tour Germany in August 2026
Tetbury Goods Shed is delighted to be hosting more and more young people’s performances and participatory programmes and this should be a truly inspiring event for children and adults alike.
