This captivating entertainment, full of laugh-out-loud moments and wonderful surprises, combines the words of Jane Austen’s most popular novel with one of the most beloved musical soundtracks of the 1990s.
The enduring story of the romance between Elizabeth Bennett and Mr Darcy is read by star of stage and screen, Harriet Walter, in a simple but intimate drawing-room setting, in much the same way that Jane herself first read the story aloud to her family and their closest friends.
Weaving around those words is Carl Davis’ magical score from the much loved BBC TV drama series of the 1990s, performed by Melvyn Tan (pianist on the original BBC soundtrack) and violinist Irene Duval.

The book has been abridged by novelist and Austen biographer, Gill Hornby.
“Utterly delightful and wonderfully entertaining. Jane Austen fans will doubtless be in their element” – Limelight Magazine
