The Picture Framers Duo is a collaboration of singer-songwriter Chez Dunford and Viv Sherman. An unlikely duo separated by a generation, they are united by a love of songs that endeavour to paint a picture in the minds eye.
The musical arrangement provides the picture frame. Their songs reflect honest experiences, observations. hopes and fears. Expect folks songs and tunes played on guitar, piano accordion, diatonic accordion and banjo.
Chez is an independent musician performing both self-penned and traditional folk songs. Based in Bristol and the Forest of Dean, she plays piano accordion, banjo and occasionally trumpet. Chez is also a theatre maker, circus artist and community practitioner, using music and story to connect people.
Viv is a singer and songwriter based in North Wiltshire. As guitarist for Pack Horse Ceilidh Band and occasionally other bands too, he’s often seen playing in music sessions in his local area. Viv also uses melodeon to achieve drones, chords and simple melodies in the songs to compliment Chez’s banjo playing.
Geoff Lakeman
A Cornishman who has lived on Dartmoor in Devon for nearly 50 years, Geoff Lakeman has been described as “ a stalwart of the West Country acoustic music scene and the patriarch of a virtual folk dynasty.”
He’s the dad of Seth, Sean and Sam Lakeman, all internationally-acclaimed performers, and father-in-law to equally renowned daughters-in-law Cara Dillon (Sam’s wife) and Kathryn Roberts (married to Sean).
Geoff is a leading exponent of the rare and fiendishly difficult-to-play Crane duet concertina. He performs self-written and west country songs, English, Irish and Scottish folk, Americana and other music as varied as Jimmie Rodgers, The Louvin Brothers, Hank Williams, Randy Newman and Richard Thompson. He’s also one of the few to tease authentic Tin Pan Alley songs out of a 1920’s squeezebox.
Sunday Folk at The Goods Shed is an affordable and family-friendly way to spend a relaxed Sunday afternoon enjoying excellent folk musicianship. Seating will be informal tables and chairs, there will be a licensed bar, and the Whistle Stop Cafe will be serving hot and cold drinks as well as cakes and savouries to enjoy with the music.
Advance tickets cost 10 per adult or £2 for under-16s (plus booking fees). On the door they will be £12 and £3.
Doors open 2:30pm. Concert starts at 3pm.
