For the sixth and final concert in our 2024/25 Classical Series, we are delighted to welcome back celebrated pianist, Mishka Rushdie Momen, together with acclaimed cellist, Tim Posner.

Winner of the Thierry Scherz Prize at Sommets Musicaux de Gstaad 2023, Tim Posner is also the first British cellist to have been awarded a prize at the International Karl Davidov Competition. Born in 1995, he began playing the cello at the age of eight, studying with his mother, Julia Desbruslais and subsequently with Robert Max. He then studied in the ‘Solo Class’ of Prof. Leonid Gorokhov at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover.

He draws great inspiration from masterclasses with Steven Isserlis at Prussia Cove. Tim, is principal cellist of Amsterdam Sinfonietta, has also performed as soloist with orchestras including the NDR Radiophilharmonie, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Mozart Players, with conductors such as Andrew Manze. Tim recently made his debut concerto CD with the Bern Symphony Orchestra, recording works by Bloch, Bruch and Dohnanyi.

Hailed as “one of the most thoughtful and sensitive of British pianists”, Mishka Rushdie Momen captivates audiences with her refined and expressive playing.

She studied with Joan Havill and Imogen Cooper at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama as well as Richard Goode, and at the Kronberg Academy with Sir András Schiff, who has presented her in recital and orchestral dates across the USA and Europe.

Mishka Rushdie Momen performs Mendelssohn’s Variations Sérieuses, op. 54 at the Leeds International Piano Series

Her wide repertoire focuses on Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, and Schumann, whilst reaching back to Gibbons and Rameau. Highlights of the 2023/24 season include debuts with London Philharmonic Orchestra performing Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto, Turku Philharmonic Orchestra with Mozart Piano Concerto No.23, and with Mannheim Chamber Orchestra performing Mozart and Haydn.

Notable orchestral engagements to date include City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Deutsche Kammerakademie Neuss, Orchestre National d’Ile de France, Britten Sinfonia and play/directing Mozart K.271 with Luzerner Sinfonieorchester. This season includes dates at the Gstaad Menuhin Festival, Portland Piano International Series, Music in the Round, SJE Arts in Oxford and a return to The Maestro Foundation in Santa Monica.
