We are delighted to welcome back this award-winning youth ensemble for two special concerts today. Since their last visit, GYSO’s extraordinary talents have taken them to London’s Royal Albert Hall and they’re set to tour Germany in August.

The afternoon concert offers something a little different; showcasing some of the group’s conservatoire-bound soloists, alongside a set by Gloucestershire Youth Chamber Strings. GYCS is made up from players within Gloucestershire Youth String Orchestra, allowing senior players an opportunity to perform at small functions and stretch their repertoire legs.

Tickets just £5.00

For more information about this evening’s concert bringing together the full 60-strong ensemble for a programme ranging from Bach to Jenkins via Mozart, Vivaldi and a new composition by Louie Sheriton – please see the separate listing

About

The Gloucestershire Youth String Orchestra (GYSO) is made up of a very talented group of youngsters drawn from across the Gloucestershire schools. It relaunched in 2018 as a creative outlet for the string section of Gloucestershire Youth Orchestra (GYO) and then Gloucestershire Intermediate String Ensemble to tackle larger string repertoire.

GYSO was chosen to perform at Birmingham Town Hall as part of Music for Youth’s National Festival. More recently notable performances include appearing at The Music for Youth Proms 2025 which took place at London’s Royal Albert Hall over two nights on 10 and 11 November 2025. GYSO will tour Germany this summer and perform three concerts in Leipzig.

This national award-winning string orchestra allows young string players (grade 5 +) the opportunity to develop their ensemble skills and to tackle challenging repertoire. Sessions are presented and delivered in a fun and inclusive manner.

Tetbury Goods Shed is delighted to be hosting more and more young people’s performances and participatory programmes and this should be a truly inspiring event for children and adults alike.
