The countdown is on to this year’s fabulous Off the Rails festival of music, entertainment and family fun.

Whatever else you’ve got planned for Sunday 1 September, give yourself a generous dollop of time to come on down to our fourth “Off the Rails” family festival. Starting at 11am.

There’ll be live music on the outdoor platforms, while around and about the outside of the Shed there’ll be all kinds of impromptu entertainment for grown ups and children alike, including a Samba workshop and parade with Jamma de Samba, magic, and naturally a Beer Tent.

Buy your adult tickets in advance for £8.50 (under-18s are free) and save £1.50 on the gate price of £10.

Paul Hutchinson and John Dipper 11:30am

Let Paul Hutchinson and John Dipper, acclaimed musicians of the highest order, get your feet tapping as they play rip roaring dance tunes together on accordion and fiddle. Paul (Belshazzar’s Feast) is one of the country’s top accordionists and John an equally respected and established musician.


Guitar virtuoso, Iago Banet 12:10pm

Iago is a one-man-band on acoustic guitar; not to be missed. Described as ‘nothing short of phenomenal’ in a recent review, and as a ‘highly recommended artist’ by Celtic Connections, Iago creates stories without words, enthralling audiences as he does so.


The Lost Notes Trio 1:15pm

The Lost Notes write songs about things that matter. Like the perils of one-night stands and plastic surgery, the plight of bankers, greaseballs, Greco-Roman health and safety, mules and mermaids. All delivered in glorious 3-part harmony.


Jazz master James Morton and his Groove Den 1:50pm

James is one of the most exciting saxophone players of his generation. Groove Den draw on jazz, hip-hop and tough, grooving beats overlaid with James’ soulful, lyrical and flamboyant style on the sax. You won’t want his set to end.


Samba Workshop and Parade 3pm

Get ready to swing your hips to the infectious sound of Jamma de Samba. Their combination of traditional samba rhythms with elements of modern funk and hip-hop beats is a popular element of community parades and festivals including Glastonbury.


Guinea Lane Saxophone Quartet 3:15pm

Four friends from the West Country formed Guinea Lane Saxophone Quartet and, unusually for this line up, play traditional music from the British Isles. Get here nice and early to enjoy their original and innovative arrangements, which will surprise and delight


Magpie and the Shiny Things 3:50pm

It’s time to get your dancing shoes on as the seven-piece Magpie and the Shiny Things hit the stage with an uplifting collection of covers and party music guaranteed to get the OTR crowd moving. Fronted by Pip Weaver’s amazing vocals, their sets go down a storm everywhere they play.


DJ Fatboy Tim 4:50pm

The world’s first superstar DJ tribute wraps up the festival with the electrifying energy and infectious beats that have defined Fatboy Slim’s legendary career. Tim captures the essence of Norman’s music and performances with a high-octane sets that’ll keep you on your feet and fully immersed in the experience.



Food and drink

Beer tent? Check! And of course the Whistle Stop café will be doing take-away meals, hot and cold drinks and scrumptious pastries all day, together with other food stalls including:

  • The One Pizza
  • Maria’s Cafe of Love Land
  • and Niangs Thai Snacks and ice cream.
