Our sixth concert for 2026 features bassonist Thomas Donkin and pianist Xiaowen Shang.

Thomas is currently studying at the Royal Academy of Music under full Entrance Scholarship. Xiaowen’s recent career highlights include winning the First Prize of 2025 Prix Annelie de Man in Netherlands and being invited back as one of the festival artists next year.

Tom recently toured to Jordan as guest -principal bassoon with the Amman Chamber Orchestra. Other orchestral performances include multiple appearances with the Philharmonia Orchestra, including Mahler’s Symphony no. 8 at St Paul’s Cathedral.

Xiaowen Shang is a versatile pianist and harpsichordist with a passion for early, classical, and contemporary music. Nominated as one of BBC Music Magazine’s Rising Stars of 2024, her debut album, Music of Silence, has been featured on several playlists.Her collaborations with renowned musicians and composers include Steven Isserlis, Joanna MacGregor, Dame Imogen Cooper and Adrian Brendel.
