Join Jane Haines of the History of Tetbury Society (HOTS) for a gentle stroll around the town and through its historical association with wool as a warm-up for our Wool Fair. There is a reason why we celebrate with the Woolsack Races!

There was a time when wool from Cotswold sheep was in demand around the world. If you also come to our talk on the Cotswold Wool industry on 25 September you can hear about how wool money was essential for beautiful churches and mansions in places like Fairford and other market towns.

Much of Tetbury’s wealth in those days came from sheep and wool. Many of the oldest houses in town had connections in one way or another to the trade: find out why these buildings have intriguing stories to tell.

Event details

The walk starts at The Goods Shed at 2pm. Tickets are £3. Proceeds will go to HOTS for more research into the town’s history.
