First of two unforgettable evenings with the remarkable Orchestra of St John’s.

This opening concert showcases the repertoire that has come to characterise OSJ’s hugely popular series at Dorchester Abbey. From the heroic splendour of Wagner’s “Siegfried” to the sweeping lyricism of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2, this is music of passion, beauty and intensity.

Tchaikovsky’s unforgettable Letter Scene from Eugene Onegin is paired with Mozart’s radiant concert aria, Ch’io mi scordi di te?, before the evening concludes with Brahms’ magnificent Variations on a Theme by Haydn, one of the composer’s finest orchestral works.

Programme

Wagner – Siegfried (extract)
Rachmaninoff – Piano Concerto No. 2, second movement
Tchaikovsky – Eugene Onegin: Letter Scene
